iOS has no browser extensions — so Magpie lives in the share sheet instead.
Share a page from Safari, a post from Instagram, a screenshot, a photo, or a scrap of selected text. It lands in your nest and syncs to the extension and the web app like anything else you collect.
This is part of Plus, because it writes to the nest in the cloud — that's the part a plan pays for. The free extension stays free, complete and local forever.

The Shortcut itself is still being made.
Everything behind it is live — capture keys, the endpoint your phone talks to, the boards it files into. The one missing piece is the Shortcut file you tap to install, and it lands on this page when it's done.
Nothing to do in the meantime. There's no point minting a key yet: there's nowhere to put it until the Shortcut exists, and it takes ten seconds to mint one when there is.
Set it up once — once it's here
- Add the Shortcut. Tap the install button on this page from your iPhone. Shortcuts shows you every action it will run before you add it — worth reading, it's short.
- Mint a capture key. On your account page, under capture from your phone, tap new key. It's shown once, so copy it before you leave the page.
- Paste the key into the Shortcut. That's the only thing you ever have to fill in — one box, at the top. After that it just works from the share sheet.
Where it shows up
Tap Share in any app and scroll past the row of app icons: Magpie sits in the list of actions below, with Copy and Add to Reading List.
Being honest about this: a native app would sit up in the app row, where your thumb already goes. A Shortcut sits one band lower. Tap Edit Actions… at the bottom of the share sheet and pin Magpie to the top of that list — it's about two taps then, instead of one.
The same Shortcut also works from the Action Button (iPhone 15 Pro and later), Back Tap, the Lock Screen and Control Center, Spotlight, and Siri. The one most people end up using daily: screenshot → tap the thumbnail → Share → Magpie.
Nothing opens when you tap it. A thin progress bar runs at the top of whatever you were looking at, then a notification says caught → inbox. Tap the notification to open what you just saved.
What it does and doesn't do
- Links, text and images all land, on whichever board is first in your list.
- Captions, tags and text-in-image search fill in later, the next time your extension is open — the AI pass runs there, not on your phone.
- Instagram and X posts arrive as plain link cards. The extension reads the post itself out of the page; iOS only hands over a URL.
- Sharing from Safari or Instagram gives a link, not the picture. For actual image files, share from Photos or from the screenshot editor.
- No full-page screenshots, no region crop — those need a browser.
About that key
A capture key can add things to your collection. It cannot read it. That's deliberate: the key is stored inside the Shortcut, and Shortcuts sync through iCloud and get shared between people.
So: don't share the Shortcut itself once your key is in it — send people this page instead and let them use their own. If a key ever goes somewhere you didn't mean it to, revoke it on your account page; the list shows when each one was last used.
Browsing on your phone
Open magpie.ee in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It gets its own icon and runs full-screen — that's where you look at boards, search and edit. The Shortcut only ever puts things in.
